Recreational soccer ("rec soccer") is a community-based, introductory level of soccer for ages under 4 - under 12, focused on fun, participation, and skill development for all abilities. Rec typically features volunteer parent coaches, open registration without tryouts, and equal playing time for everyone without recording scores. The primary goal is learning to love the game over competitive winning.

For those who wish to continue developing their skills, players may progress into additional training opportunities within the Mission City development pathway.

Next Steps

Players within the Mission City club system may participate in structured Junior Academy beginning under 4 and at age 6 they age into Academy training sessions led by qualified Mission City coaching staff. These programs provide additional technical instruction and introduce players to the next level of development within the Mission City pathway.

MCYSO also offers open academy training sessions available to all players, regardless of club affiliation. These sessions allow players from across the community to train with Mission City coaching staff without requiring membership in the club.

Mission City Youth Soccer League

Mission City Youth Soccer Organization manages the Mission City Youth Soccer League for recreational programing from ages 4 through 10. MCYSL offers a Spring, Summer, and Fall Season with volunteer coaches and lots of fun! No scores are kept while we emphasize teaching them to learn to love the game. During the seasons, MCYSL teams gather at Mission City Soccer Complex for scheduled league matches. Families attend to support players while teams compete against other recreation teams in their age division. Matchdays are organized so that multiple games take place across the fields throughout the day with end of season “playoffs.”
